Maldonado: Everything is possible

Maldonado: Everything is possible

On the top step of the podium and in the top ten of the standings for the first time, Pastor Maldonado says "why not" as he eyes a title tilt.

Maldonado made Formula One history last weekend in Barcelona when he became the first Venezuelan driver to start a race from pole position and the nation's first grand prix winner.

It was a highly impressive showing especially if one considers how far Williams had fallen last season in a campaign that yielded just five points.

This year already the team has 43, 29 belonging to Maldonado, 25 of which he bagged on Sunday alone.

And the 27-year-old sees no reason why Williams cannot use Sunday's success as a launch pad for a title bid.

"Everything is possible," he said.

"We aren't the best team at the moment, but the gaps are close and I'm driving well. And I have a very good feeling with the team and with the car.

"Why not?

"We are looking to do our best, looking forward to winning some races, to getting a couple more podiums and I'm really happy because the team hasn't won many races for many years so this is a great moment for us.

"I hope to continue like that."
