Brawn still in charge on pit wall

Mercedes will keep the status quo on their pit wall this season with Ross Brawn still the man in charge.

Speculation was rife a few weeks ago that Brawn could be on his way out at Brackley after the team made several management changes with Toto Wolff taking over as co-ordination of Mercedes-Benz motorsport activities and Niki Lauda appointed a non-executive director.

Reports also linked McLaren's Paddy Lowe to the team, but the Woking squad have made it clear that their technical director will see out his contract, which runs until the end of the 2013 season.

Wolff has now also cleared up the issue over who will be calling the shots during races.

"On the pit wall everything will remain the same," he said. "I think it would be totally wrong for Niki to get involved on the pit wall and equally for me. It is Ross's call and Ross's decision that is the team's decision."

As for Lauda's role at the team, Wolff said: "He's a non-executive chairman, so that means he chairs the board and he's in a non-executive function. He guides us and steers us and gives us support, and where it's needed he gets involved."

Brawn has also played down suggestions that he could leave the sport saying "I am very settled" when asked about his long-term future.

"I have no problems at all on that front."
