Perez: They are only rumours

Sergio Perez says he's not letting rumours claiming he's set to take Felipe Massa's Ferrari race-seat distract him from his job at Sauber...

Massa had a dismal start to the season, qualifying down in 16th place as Ferrari's F2012 lacked the speed needed to challenge in the top half of the field.

And his race wasn't much better.

While working his way into the points, the Brazilian clashed with Bruno Senna and was forced to retire his damaged car.

Massa's downfall could be Perez's step into the big leagues as the Mexican, who is part of Ferrari's Young Driver Program, has been linked to the Brazilian's race-seat.

Perez, however, says he's not thinking about a future with Ferrari. Rather he's concentrating on having a good season with Sauber.

Asked about the speculation, he said: "They are only rumours.

"Its only the first race of the season, so its very early to say this or speculate.

"I am very focussed with my team, with Sauber, and we have a great car."
