De la Rosa gets Ferrari gig

Ferrari have snapped up Pedro de la Rosa for the 2013 season, with the Formula One veteran being handed a development role.

The 41-year-old Spaniard, who is without a team this year after HRT folded at the end of the 2012 campaign, will act as one of the development drivers for the Italian marque.

Team principal Stefano Domenicali confirmed that De La Rosa will assist with simulation work during the squad's annual Wrooom event in the Dolomites.

"We must anticipate problems we have and focus on simulation," the Italian said.

"We think Pedro is the right person to develop this type of activity. We think he is a driver that fits well within our group."

Besides HRT, De La Rosa also had stints with Jordan, Arrows, Prost, Jaguar and Sauber while he spent several years at McLaren as a test and reserve driver.
