Alonso: Just not fast enough

Alonso: Just not fast enough

Fernando Alonso reckons Lady Luck deserted him in Valencia on Saturday as he missed out on a Q3 berth by 0.004s.

Saturday's second qualifying segment proved to be incredibly close with the top 13 separated by less than three-tenths of a second.

Alonso posted a 1:38.707 on his final flying lap, which at first looked to be good enough to put him through.

However, as others crossed the line he dropped to P11, 0.004s down on Kamui Kobayashi, who did progress.

"Not reaching Q3 is a little sad for us but it is the way it was today, unfortunately we were not fast enough," said the Ferrari driver.

"(But) the race is tomorrow and hopefully we can score some good points even starting 11th and we see what the positions are at the end.

"We were two tenths away from pole position so you need a bit of luck. Maybe today, we weren't on the lucky side."
