Martin Whitmarsh has downplayed the glitch that hit Lewis Hamilton in the immediate aftermath of qualifying, saying "hopefully" it's not serious.
Having taken pole position with a blisteringly quick 1:21.707 - over half a second up on his nearest rival - Hamilton was seen slowing down on his in-lap before eventually stopping his car on the side of the track.
Asked about the issue his McLaren team boss told Sky Sports F1's Ted Kravitz: "A technical problem.
"I don't know, we've just going to look at that - hopefully it's not too serious. But a problem arose and we had to turn off (the car)."
As for fears that the problem could result in a penalty, in other words an engine or gearbox issue, Whitmarsh was asked whether there was any indication that it was one of the two.
He said: "No there isn't. So we won't have that (a penalty)."
