Hulkenberg: Everything is wide open

Nico Hulkenberg believes his P11 for the Australian GP grid is "not a complete disaster" as nothing is guaranteed given the conditions.

Qualifying took place on Sunday morning due to the heavy rain and fading light on Saturday evening, however, it was still raining at the Albert Park track.

The drivers opted for intermediate tyres for Q2 with Hulkenberg narrowly missing out on a top-ten grid position in his debut race with Sauber as he finished P11.

The German, though, believes he can build on that come Sunday afternoon's grand prix.

"Everything is open," he told the BBC.

"It's been a new experience this qualifying. Everything is wide open.

"Eleventh is not a complete disaster, maybe we should have stopped for a new set of inters but we take that forward and we learn from it."
