Grosjean: Good start then big boom

Grosjean: Good start then big boom

Romain Grosjean is unsure as to whether he was responsible for the first lap carnage at Spa, saying he made a good start and then "boom."

Starting eighth on the grid, the Lotus driver cut across the track, tagging Lewis Hamilton's McLaren as they vied for track position at the start.

The ensuing accident also took out Fernando Alonso, who was lucky not to be hit on the head by Grosjean's Lotus which had been launched into the air when it hit the back of Sergio Perez's Sauber. All four drivers retired.

Asked about the accident by the BBC, Grosjean said: "It was a good start, then a big boom.

"I have not seen the image, but the main thing is we are all okay."

As to who was responsible for the huge accident, the Frenchman said: "I do not know if I moved over too quickly."
