Fisichella happy with 'third driver' role

Fisichella happy with 'third driver' role

Fisichella happy with 'third driver' role

Giancarlo Fisichella is more than happy to stay on as Ferrari's reserve driver for the 2010 season.

The Italian moved to the Scuderia from Force India at the back end of the 2009 season to stand in for Felipe Massa who was forced to sit out the remainder of the season following an accident.

With Massa fit for the start of the new season, Fisichella was handed the third driver role at the Italian marquee. However, team boss Stefano Domenicali made it clear that he was welcome to leave if he secured a race seat. That resulted in him being linked with moves to Renault, USF1 and Campos.

It appears, though, as if he has accepted life as Ferrari's No 3 driver.

"It's better to stay here as the third driver," Fisichella told Reuters at the launch of the team's new car.

Luca Badoer and Marc Gene will also stay on as test drivers for the 2010 season.

"Giancarlo will be our third driver, but Marc and Luca complete our driver lineup," Domenicali said.
