Wheel error costs Schumacher dearly

Michael Schumacher says he feels for his front right tyre changer after an error put him out of Sunday's Chinese GP.

Schumacher had been running in second place behind his team-mate Nico Rosberg when he came into the pits on lap 13.

Given the go to leave with the green pit light, Schumacher returned to the action only for it to become apparent that his front right tyre was not properly attached.

Replays showed that the mechanic in charge of Schumacher's front right tyre had not put the wheel nut back on.

"I noticed it in Turn 3 once I started to load the front right tyre," Schumacher told the BBC.

"Already by Turn 6 there was quite a bit of smoke and damage and I thought it was better to stop before I did some serious damage to the car."

Asked what the team said over the radio, Schumacher responded: "I probably found out before them."

The German added that he felt "a bit sorry for one of my boys that I guess he feels responsible, but it's part of the game" as he had been on track for a strong result.
