Alguersuari confident of F1 future

Jaime Alguersuari is "sure" he will be back driving in Formula One next season after failing to find a seat for this year's campaign.

Having joined Toro Rosso midway through the 2009 Championship, the Spaniard was given a further two years with the Red Bull junior team before being unceremoniously dumped at the end of 2011.

With little time to organise a drive for this season, Alguersuari only remained in the Formula One paddock after agreeing a deal to join the BBC commentary team.

However, the 22-year-old has revealed that he won't be in action behind the mike for the next three races as he is opting instead to focus on his fitness and a 2013 race-seat.

"I have been really enjoying my commentary role at BBC Radio 5 live this year but I won't be going to the next three races," he wrote in his BBC column.

"It had been planned for some time. It's better for me to prepare for next year, to keep my training up, as I'm sure I will be back driving in F1.

"I also have an important test with Pirelli in Paul Ricard, France, in two weeks' time, where we are going to be deciding on the specification of next year's wet tyres. Apart from that I will dedicate myself to training.

"I will be back with the BBC for the final two races of the year in the USA and Brazil."
