Raikkonen reminisces on the ‘tricky’ Chinese GP

Kimi Raikkonen has recalled his experiences from the Shanghai track from 2007, when he won the Drivers’ Championships title with Ferrari.

Thinking back to what the Chinese GP was like nine years ago, Raikkonen said that it was one of the key races in his Championship winning season and he enjoyed the tricky conditions that the Shanghai Inertational circuit offered.

“There were tricky conditions, it was wet to start with and then the track was drying up,” the Finn revealed.

“Obviously there was a point to change the Intermediates tires and then we got a ride. Obviously not the easiest race to anybody, but we came out quite easily.

“The circuit is quite challenging. First of all, you must mind the start with first few corners where you can get a lot of lap time, if you can get it right though. It’s not an easy circuit, but it’s fun.”

He also added that he is not really educated on the city so he can’t say much on what kind of lifestyle people live there.

“I was always in the middle of the city but I haven’t been out the door,” he said.

“I’ve only been at the circuit and in the hotel, so all I can say is that sometimes in the morning the traffic can be really tricky.”
