Kimi to sit out Mugello test

Wednesday 02-May-2012 08:58

Lotus have had a change of heart regarding their driving schedule for Mugello and Kimi Raikkkonen will no longer take part in the session.

Test and reserve driver Jerome d'Ambrosio was behind the wheel of the E20 on Tuesday and Raikkonen was set to drive on Wednesday with Romain Grosjean due to take over on the final day on Thursday.

However, with d'Ambrosio only able to complete 40 laps on day one at Mugello due to wet conditions, Lotus have decided to alter their plans for the remaining two days.

Raikkonen will now no longer test on Wednesday and Grosjean will instead drive on the final two days.

"The mixed conditions, running intermediates to start and then switching to the medium compound slicks, gave us a good base line for Romain over the next two days," Alan Permane, head of trackside operations, said.

"We've opted for one driver for the next two days so we can make better use of the time after losing this afternoon's running."
