Sergio Perez and Charles Pic have escaped penalty after stewards deemed their practice shunt to have been a "racing incident."
Putting in the laps in Saturday's final practice at the Circuit of the Americas, the fast-approaching Perez tried to find a gap into Turn Seven to get by Pic.
However, instead of passing him, the door was closed and the two collided.
Perez's Sauber needed a new front wing while Pic's Marussia suffered floor damage.
The incident was investigated by the stewards with the duo escaping sanctions.
A stewards' statement said: "Having heard from both drivers, the stewards are satisfied this was a racing incident."
