HRT are reportedly in a race against time to be get Pedro de la Rosa's car ready in time for Friday's first practice.
HRT was one of two teams, the other being Marussia, who failed to take part in pre-season testing as their car struggled to pass the mandatory crash tests.
The team did, however, put in two days of filming at the Barcelona circuit once their rivals had wrapped up.
But, using just one car, the team has yet to get the other - which will be used by Pedro de la Rosa - up and running.
According to reports in Melbourne, the team asked for and were granted a delay in scrutineering.
De la Rosa's car will now be looked at by the FIA stewards at 11am on Friday morning, just one and a half hours ahead of the first practice session.
