A BMW mechanic suffered an electric shock after coming into contact with a car fitted with Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems (KERS) during testing at Jerez.
Test driver Christian Klien returned to the pits after completing a three-lap installation run with the KERS device, but the first mechanic to touch his car fell to the ground after receiving an electric shock.
He suffered only sustained minor injuries and sent to the track's medical centre.
A BMW spokesman told ITV: "During testing of the KERS car at the Jerez track this morning, there was an incident involving a mechanic.
"When the car returned to the pits, he touched it and suffered an electric shock.
"He sustained slight injuries to his left hand and grazing on his left arm.
"After a brief examination at the track's medical centre, he has returned to the test team."
BMW suspended its testing programme for the day and have launched an invistigation into the incident.
