'New deal and a pay rise for Fisi'

Tuesday 12th August 2008

Giancarlo Fisichella is set to receive a hefty pay rise should Force India opt to retain him for the 2009 season.

Having been dropped by Renault at the end of 2007, Fisichella's F1 career looked to be over. The Roman, though, was offered a lifeline by the Force India outfit. The only catch was that he would by practically racing for free.

However, according to Auto Motor und Sport Fisichella is in line for a raise should the team opt to retain him for the 2009 season. The German publication reports that his salary for 2009 could be $1.5 million.

Force India reportedly have until August 31st to take up their one-year offer on Fisichella for next year.
